Kathy Davies trained at local schools from the age of three and after leaving school she attended London Studio Centres Musical Theatre Diploma Course. She became a professional dancer working all over the world in cabaret. Whilst working in Hong Kong as a dancer she was invited to teach Ballet for the Associao Da Danca in Macau where she found her niche. She returned to the United Kingdom to obtain her teaching qualifications and graduated from London College of Dance, the college of the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing in 1993 with the Post Graduate and Professional Dancers Teaching Certificate. She holds the Associate Diploma in Imperial Classical Ballet, Diploma in Dance Education in Imperial Classical Ballet, Modern Theatre Dance and Tap Dance.
Reanna White PDD AAC1
Loved by all the students, Reanna is a former student of Kathy Davies Dance who has recently qualified from Millennium Performing Arts College in London with a Professional Dance Diploma following a full 3 year scholarship. Reanna received all her dance training up to ISTD Advanced level in Ballet, Tap and Modern with me before completing a foundation course at Performers College in Essex. She is currently studying for her ISTD teaching qualification and has recently qualified as a teacher of Acrobatic Dance. We now welcome her back to teach her own Non Syllabus Jazz and Senior Tap classes.
The Kathy Davies School of Dance was established in September 1998 as Morini Davies School of Dance and moved to its own premises in September 2001. In the summer of 2007 Jacqui Morini retired and Kathy Davies continues to run the school as the Kathy Davies School of Dance.
Classes are held in our purpose designated dance studio with floor to ceiling mirrors, wall mounted barres and professional dance floor.
The school teaches Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing Classical Ballet, Modern Jazz, Tap dancing and Musical Theatre. Non syllabus Jazz and Classical Ballet classes run concurrently with syllabus classes for the more serious student or for those not wishing to take exams.
Pupils are regularly entered for Ballet, Tap and Modern exams which are QCA (Qualification and Curriculum Association) accredited. Pupils achieve 100% pass in all dance disciplines.
The school runs an annual choreography competition for those of six years or over.
We accept pupils from 2 1/2 years of age for Ballet and 5 for Tap and Modern. We also offer Tap and Ballet lessons for adults.
All pupils perform in our bi-annual show. Pupils also perform in the annual professional pantomime at Weymouth Pavilion Theatre, perform annually with 'Mad About' Productions and with Ballet Theatre Uk and perform with Portrait, the youth dance company of Dorset. Our pupils have also been featured in the International Dance Supplies costume and uniform catalogue.
Past pupils have successfully auditioned to study at full time vocational colleges Italia Conti, Performers College, London Studio Centre, Laine Theatre Arts and Urdang Academy in order to pursue a career in the theatre.
Open classes are held at the end of each term for parents to see how their child is progressing
